Speaking in an interview, Trump said Netanyahu had requested the meeting and expressed confidence that it could take place in the near future. He described his relationship with the Israeli prime minister as strong, adding that the two leaders remain in close contact on regional developments.

The US president remarked that Netanyahu “knows who the boss is,” while reaffirming the close ties between Washington and Tel Aviv. Israeli officials indicated that the meeting may take place after Trump’s scheduled international engagements.

The expected talks will be the first face-to-face meeting between the two leaders since earlier discussions held during the recent Middle East conflict. Regional security, Iran, bilateral cooperation and the post-war situation are expected to dominate the agenda.

Commenting on Iran, Trump claimed Tehran is interested in returning to negotiations with Washington. He said both countries had agreed to pause discussions for about a week while funeral ceremonies for former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei continue.

Trump said the temporary pause would allow funeral events to conclude before diplomatic contacts resume. He also claimed that neither side would take military action during this period.

The US president said he had been closely following the funeral ceremonies in Iran and expressed surprise over the large number of mourners attending the events.

Meanwhile, regional maritime activity is gradually returning to normal following the ceasefire. Qatar announced that all maritime operations, including sailing and fishing activities, have resumed after temporary restrictions imposed during the conflict.

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz also continues to recover, although traffic remains below pre-conflict levels. Maritime monitoring companies reported that some vessels altered their routes as a precaution while transiting the strategic waterway.
