Former US president Donald Trump, on Monday, sued TV network CNN, accusing it of defamation and sought $475million as damages.

According to a report by Anadolu Agency, Trump’s attorneys filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida in Fort Lauderdale. According to a report published in Guardian, Trump’s lawyers claimed that the broadcaster CNN has tried to defame the former president “with a series of ever-more scandalous, false, and defamatory labels of ‘racist’, ‘Russian lackey’, ‘insurrectionist’, and ultimately ‘Hitler’.

The lawyer contended that, in addition to emphasizing damaging news about Donald Trump and neglecting all positive stories about him, CNN has tried to use its huge influence as a “trusted” news source, to defame trump in the minds of its viewers and readers to defy him politically.

“As a part of its concerted effort to tilt the political balance to the left, CNN has tried to taint the plaintiff,” the suit said. Earlier last month, Trump was sued by New York Attorney General Leticia James on the accusations of lying to banks and insurers about the value of his assets.

He is also being sued for an alleged sexual assault by writer E Jean Carroll.
