Turkiye condemns attack on former Premier Imran Khan

Turkiye on Friday has strongly condemned the attack on former Premier of Pakistan Imran Khan.

In a statement, the foreign ministry wished Khan a “speedy recovery” and conveyed its condolences over the death of a Pakistani citizen in the attack.

Khan was shot in the leg during the Long March when a gunman opened fire on a campaign truck carrying him in the Wazirabad region of the eastern Punjab province. He was sent to a hospital in Lahore, where reports indicate that his condition is stable.

As per the Anadolu agency report, the prime minister, the interior minister, and an intelligence official have all been nominated for involvement in the incident, according to the leaders of his party, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, who said it was a planned murder attempt.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also expressed his condemnation of the attack on Ex-PM Imran Khan.

In a tweet, he stated, “The attack on Imran Khan and his supporters is completely unacceptable, and I strongly condemn this violence. It has no place in politics, in any democracy, or in our society. I’m wishing a speedy recovery to Imran and all who were injured today.”
