Two explosions at the Kabal police station of the Counter Terrorism Department in Swat resulted in 30 injured and the deaths of ten individuals including one lady and eight policemen.
According to reports, the blast was so powerful that the police station’s roof fell as the security forces took over the area.
According to preliminary information, the blast took place at 8:20 pm inside the police station of Kabal tehsil, in addition to the police station building, the counter-terrorism department and the mosque buildings located inside the police station also collapsed.
DPO Swat Shafiullah Gandapur confirmed the death toll and described the incident as a “suicide attack”.
Soon after the explosion, a fire broke out at the scene while due to the intensity of the explosion the glasses of nearby buildings were also broken.
Police said that around 20 policemen were buried under the debris of the collapsed buildings while the injured were taken to Saidu Sharif Teaching Hospital.
Rescue 1122 teams have reached the spot and started relief activities, emergency has been imposed in STH and local hospitals.
Security has been put on high alert across the district after the blasts, the area has been cordoned off and fresh police personnel and security forces have reached the spot.
After appeals to donate blood, many enthusiastic young people reached the hospital to donate blood.
