Twitter Inc temporarily closes its offices

Twitter Inc. temporarily closed its headquarters on Friday, after informing staff that they will get a notification about their employment status through email later in the day.

As per a Reuters report, “In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday,” the email stated.

The announcement came after a week after Elon Musk became twitter’s CEO.

According to reports, Musk, the richest man in the world, is reportedly considering laying off 3,700 Twitter employees, or over half the company’s employment, in an effort to reduce costs and impose a rigorous new work ethic.

Employees of Twitter protested the layoffs on the social media platform by using the hashtag #OneTeam.

In the email, Twitter further stated that all credential access would be halted and that its offices would be temporarily shut down in order “to help safeguard the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data.”

The memo stated that employees who had been let go will receive notifications of the next stages at their home emails.

Some workers worried that if they tweeted that their access to the company’s IT system had been banned, it may mean they had been fired.

The working of Twitter is facing disruption ever since Musk takes over. Musk also announced the fee on blue tick which invited a backlash.
