Two soldiers, three civilians martyred in Bajaur attack

Four terrorists killed as army retaliates

At least two soldiers of the Pakistan Army and three civilians reportedly embraced martyrdom while thwarting a terrorists attack on security forces in Bloro area of Bajaur District on Monday.

According to media reports, four terrorists were also killed in retaliatory fire. Reports quoted the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) as saying, “On 21st March, terrorists fired on security forces in Bloro, Bajaur District… troops initiated a prompt response and effectively engaged the terrorists’ location. Resultantly, four terrorists got killed.”

Naib Subedar lshtiaq (44-year-old resident of Nowshera) and Sepoy Kamran (21-year-old resident of Orakzai) embraced martyrdom when the terrorist launched the gun-battle in Bloro area of Bajaur. The martyred civilians were identified as Asmat, Ilham and Bahadur.

It added that a cache of weapons and ammunition was also recovered from the killed terrorists. According to reports, the killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces. “Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers and innocent citizens further strengthen our resolve,” the military’s media wing said. It may be mentioned here that this was the fourth attack on civilians and security forces this month.

On March 9, a suicide bomber struck along the route of President Dr Arif Alvi’s motorcade in Sibi, claiming the lives of six security personnel.

On March 4, a suicide attack on a Peshawar mosque claimed the lives of 60 worshipers, while scores of others were injured. On March 2, a blast on Quetta’s Fatima Jinnah Road left three people, including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), dead.
