Two suspects are involved in attack on Imran Khan: Omar Cheema

Adviser to Punjab Chief Minister on Home Affairs Omar Sarfraz Cheema disclosed on Wednesday that at least two people were involved in the plot to kill PTI Chairman Imran Khan last week in Wazirabad.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, he said that an initial investigation by the law enforcement agency revealed that the attack involved at least two individuals.

The former prime minister also said that the attack on him “followed a script” and promised to reveal the identity of one more suspect in the attempted murder in Wazirabad.

Several members of the PTI chairman’s inner circle, including Senator Faisal Javed, former Sindh governor Imran Ismail, Ahmad Chattha, and Imran Yousaf, were hurt in the incident in addition to one death.

Naveed, a suspect, was taken into custody away from the crime scene. The suspect acknowledged firing on the container, but he made no mention of it to anyone during the early inquiries.

He insisted that he was acting alone and said that Imran’s remarks in a few rallies had offended his religious sentiments.

PTI leadership including Imran disputed the insistence of the federal government that the assailant acted alone and claimed that Naveed was simply a pawn in an assassination plot hatched by three influential figures.
