Two terrorists killed in NW, as many in Nushki

Two terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) Hassan Khel area of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province’s North Waziristan district, the military said on Tuesday.

The operation was launched on Monday, June 6 on the reported presence of terrorists, the military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement.

“During intense exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed,” it said, adding that weapons and ammunition were also recovered from their possession. The ISPR said the killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces.

The incident took place two days after seven terrorists were killed in two separate intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in KP’s Bannu and North Waziristan districts.

Separately, two militants belonging to Balochistan Republican Army (BRA) terrorist group were killed during a targeted operation carried out by security forces based on information about presence of them in Parodh Mountains near Balochistan’s Nushki district, the military said on Tuesday. Security forces conducted the operation to apprehend them, the ISPR said in a statement.

“Once the troops started the clearance operation in the area, terrorists tried to escape from their hideout and opened fire at security forces,” it said. Terrorists identified as Nadeem and Shahzad Alam were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire, according to the statement. These terrorists were involved in recent security incidents in Kharan and surroundings, besides planting IEDs on a security forces convoys, the ISPR added.

In addition, arms and ammunition have also been recovered which according to the military’s media wing were intended to be used by the terrorists for disrupting peace and security in the area. “Security forces, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.”
