Unaware of assurance to SC in contempt case regarding May 25, says Imran

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has expressed ignorance about the assurance given to the Supreme Court (SC) in response to the contempt of court case regarding May 25.

Imran Khan, in his response, has sought time from the court till November 3 for a detailed reply. He has stated, “The PTI leadership is not aware of any assurance given by me.”

Imran Khan has also said that he has respect for the judiciary and there was no question of violating any order of the Supreme Court.

PTI chairman replied that he was not aware of any assurance from the PTI senior leadership and was not aware of the Supreme Court’s decision not to come to D-Chowk.

On the other hand, PTI’s lawyers Dr. Babar Awan and Faisal Chaudhry have also submitted their reply to the Supreme Court in the contempt of court case.

In response, they have said that Imran Khan’s name was not taken by any lawyer nor the name has been mentioned anywhere in the court order. They have stated that the word PTI’s top leadership was used in the court order of May 25.

They have further said that the court had ordered the Interior Secretary, DC Attock to meet Imran Khan, but the government officials did not meet despite the court’s order.

It was said that there was no party in the petition regarding the Long March nor in the contempt of court case, Imran Khan and the PTI leadership were neither parties nor were advocating for them.
