UNESCO asked to list Karoonjhar Hills as world heritage

Syed Sardar Ali Shah, the provincial minister for Education, Culture and Tourism said on Wednesday that he had written to UNESCO officials to include Karoonjhar Hills in the World Heritage Sites.

Speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Syed Sardar Ali Shah said that it was his utmost responsibility to take measures to protect the beautiful hills from further damage and destruction by some unscrupulous elements adding he said that nobody would be allowed to cause any damage to such beautiful hills which had been hub of the toursim over past few decades. The provincial minister said that he would himself get the FIR registered against those invloved in extraction of granite stones from any part of hills across the hilly region. Sardar Shah said that he would take no time in moving into severe actions against those who wanted to damage the hills

He said that Karoonjhar hills had become the one of the biggest tourism spots of the province adding he said that they were trying their best to provide more modern facilities to those visiting the hills and its historical religious sites across the Parkar region. Sardar Shah said that with inclusion of hill in Works Heritage Sites, the hills would be protected and preserved from dangers.

“We, besides, promoting toursim and the rich culrure of the desert district have also launched the projects of constructing the dams to store rainwater for the agriculture” he said adding he said that the region needed to produce agricultural products. He said that lands of the various areas of Tharparkar were fertile enough to produce various types of the crops if rainwaters were properly stored and utilized.

Sardar Shah said that Sindh government had serious apprehensions over ongoing Digital Census adding he said PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asif Ali Zardari and chief minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah had already showed their apprehensions over the process of counting in a modern way adding he hoped that those at the helm of affairs would pay their attention towards the objections raised by them.

He said that he was also fully focused on improving the standard of education by recruiting teachers to fill the existing vacancies on pure merit.
