Saheefa Jabbar Khattak expressed her disapproval of the drama serial Mayi Ri on social media. She mentioned that even though she hasn’t watched all the episodes, the clips she has seen are concerning. Saheefa feels strongly about the problematic aspects of the show and decided to share her thoughts despite feeling anxious about engaging in online discussions.

“Not following all the episodes (clearly don’t want to watch the full drama), the clips coming on my feed are problematic enough,” she began. “There are so many red flags that I don’t know where to begin. I rarely speak out now because I get super anxious about this back-and-forth posting drama, but this specific one is something I deeply feel for.”

Saheefa Jabbar Khattak expressed her concerns about the drama serial Mayi Ri, particularly regarding the normalization of cousin marriages. She emphasized that the characters in the show are portrayed as underage or quite young, and she believes that promoting such content is stealing their childhood and preventing them from pursuing education and enjoying their youth. Saheefa highlighted the importance of allowing children to have a proper childhood, explore their interests, and engage in activities that are typical for their age.

Saheefa Jabbar Khattak strongly criticized the content of the show, expressing her concerns about the normalization of cousin marriages and young pregnancies. She emphasized that even in the West, such topics are frowned upon. Saheefa highlighted the importance of responsible parenting, with educated, mature, and financially stable individuals, in shaping a child’s upbringing and their ability to contribute to society. She also questioned the viral success of the show, pointing out the unrealistic portrayal of pregnancy and the lack of awareness about the consequences of such actions.

Saheefa Jabbar Khattak concluded by saying that when she was younger, Bollywood movies would depict teasing and cute love stories, where the characters would fight against family opposition to be together. She expressed her confusion about who to blame now, as the same kind of content is being shown in Pakistani dramas, which has deeply influenced society.
