Unwelcome UAE for Pakistani products

According to the State Bank, Pakistan’s exports to the Middle East fell by 5.57 percent on an annualised basis in the first five months of the current fiscal year. This is unquestionably an issue that requires urgent attention because export revenues are crucial to the economy of any nation. According to reports, the United Arab Emirates, which is Pakistan’s top export destination to the Middle East, is the primary cause of this predicament due to a decline in exports from Pakistan. The UAE market alone receives over 65 percent of the total exports from the region.

However, the value of our exports to the Emirates fell by 11.04% in the first five months of this fiscal year. Saudi Arabia is Pakistan’s second-largest export market in the region, and during the first five months of this fiscal year, our exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 12.24% to 184 million dollars. However, it is important to note that there hasn’t been a significant increase in Pakistan’s exports to Saudi Arabia in the previous 10 years. Our exports to Qatar climbed by 10.57% to a total of $83.4 million for the fiscal year 2022-23. Pakistani exports to Bahrain also significantly increased during this time. The value of our exports to the Emirates fell by 11.04% in the first five months of this fiscal year.

It is clear from this detail that if steps are implemented under systematic planning, a substantial increase in Pakistani exports to many countries in the Middle East, including the Emirates, is possible. The effects of floods may be particularly important among the reasons for the decrease in exports during the last five months, but with the situation returning to normal, all necessary measures should be taken to increase exports as soon as possible. So that the country can get rid of the economic crisis and go on the path of stability.
