US strongly condemns shooting of Imran Khan, says Ned Price

United States Department of State Spokesperson Ned Price has strongly condemned former premier Imran Khan’s assassination attempt in Wazirabad.

While condemning the attack Ned Price stated that there is no place for violence in politics.

Price also referred to US State Secretary Antony Blinken’s statement and stated that the US was “concerned about these reports of violence”.

“We call on all parties to refrain from violence, harassment, intimidation, and to respect the rule of law,” the spokesperson added.

He further talked about the US commitment to democratic and peaceful Pakistan and stated that the US stood by the people of Pakistan.

Price added that political parties should “never” use violence in their campaigns.

Department of State spokesman also reiterated his alarm over “what has transpired in Pakistan in recent days.”

“They should express their disagreements peacefully, using employing universal rights, freedom of expression, freedom of assembly – but violence is never the answer,” Price stated.

He also expressed his condolences to the deceased person’s family and wished for a swift and complete recovery of all those hurt, including Imran Khan.

Earlier US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Twitter also condemned the attack on Imran khan and expressed condolences to the injured and deceased families.
