Vote of no-confidence against PTI govt: PPP says waiting for right political situation

Speaking about bringing a vote of no-confidence against the PTI government, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khoro said on Tuesday that the party was weighing and waiting for the particular political situation to surface.

Khoro said that to bring the country back on the track of progress and rid it of the “incapable PTI government”, PPP had subscribed to the option of the long march which was to be held on March 27. He stated this while addressing a press conference at the residence of party’s Thatta chapter President Sadiq Ali Memon on Tuesday.

Khoro contended that being a vivid supporter of the legacy of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, he was duty-bound to stand firm with the party and raise his voice for the due rights of common masses.

While answering a question, he said, “This selected government of Imran Khan Niazi has miserably failed to deliver and not able to govern and fulfill its commitments with the country’s population.” Commenting on the overall performance of the PTI government, Khoro said, “We do not believe in ‘container’s politics’ and never allow the general population to confront the unwise policies of anti-people and anti-Sindh government, which has burdened the people with unbearable inflation and unemployment.”

When asked whether MQM-P was also joining hands with PPP in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Pakistan, he responded that the MQM was in partnership with the PTI government, however, if it had realized the ground realities, his party would not discount the possibility of this happening. He added that the sole demand and agenda of his party was to remove the PTI government from power and pave the way for an early general election in Pakistan.

He disclosed that the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, was already on a countrywide campaign to evaluate the views of the common people about the federal government that had not even fulfilled a single promise it made during the election campaign of 2018.

To a question about a consensus over the vote of no-confidence against the PTI government amongst PML-N and PPP in particular, he said there was no harm in this “but we are weighing and waiting for the particular political situation to surface”.

When asked why his party had taken the decision to conduct a long march too late, he said several parties believed in giving time to the democratic system “but now everybody has realized that further governance of this government would become a disaster for the country”. To a question about a proposal of Senator Faisal Jawed about the implementation of presidential Islamic mode of governance in Pakistan, he said no system was viable in this country other than democracy.
