Police on Tuesday arrested a watchman for ‘sexually abusing’ a ninth-grade schoolgirl at a government school in Kabirwala, Khanewal.
A case has been registered against the watchman on the complaint of victim’s father. “The girl will be medically examined and further investigations will be carried out,” police said.
According to reports, the father of the victim had gone to pick up his daughter, but he was told by the accused that she had gone home. When the man returned home, his daughter was not there. He ran back to the school where the watchman was ‘assaulting’ the girl.
Police said that the watchman told the girl that no one had come to pick her up and meanwhile tried to assault her.
“I have informed higher authorities several times that this person commits such acts and also issued show-cause notices to him but no action was taken against him,” said the school principal.
Up to 950 female students are studying in the school.
