Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has said that the election commission’s notification regarding the Punjab Assembly elections is the best decision in my opinion, if Imran Khan wants to hold a grand political dialogue, then let us be ready.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that there are security challenges and a severe economic crisis in the country, and only one additional ballot paper is required in the simultaneous elections of the National and Provincial Assemblies.
Azam Nazir Tarar said that two assemblies have become the ego of one person, the country is facing economic difficulties, it has to go towards austerity, the incidents of terrorism are increasing, and if separate elections are held in two provinces, it will become a permanent crisis, the economic stability of the country is linked to political stability.
The law minister said that the Constitution of Pakistan says that general elections should be held together, according to the constitution, elections must be held simultaneously in 90 days, and the work of the Election Commission is to conduct free and fair elections, in 1992, the caretaker setup was maintained in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for more than five months, all elections across the country since 1947 have been held on the same day.
He said that the big issue of security cannot be ignored, tomorrow’s notification of the Election Commission is the best decision in my opinion, after the dissolution of both the assemblies and the incidents of terrorism, the situation of the country is in front, in the current economic and security situation, different discussions are being held on the elections. Elections to the national and provincial assemblies are held simultaneously.
He said that the proportion of the population in the federal units is different, Punjab’s ratio is the largest in the House of 372, the Election Commission postponed the election schedule due to the security situation, fatwas are being issued against the Election Commission to satisfy its ego.
The law minister said that political forces should think about holding elections simultaneously, politics is based on negotiations, unfortunately, Imran Khan did not shake hands with the opposition once in four and a half years, if Imran Khan sends two men, we will also sit down, if Imran Khan wants to hold grand political dialogue, then let us be ready, Imran Khan said for four years. Whatever I did, everything will happen if I get together, the elections in this political heat will be bloody.
He further said that Imran Khan should also look at the violations of the constitution while sitting in power, political parties had objections to the census to be held at the end of 2017, and PTI itself had signed that the next elections will be held based on digital census, elections can be held on the same census in all provinces, Imran Khan must go to court instead of sitting together. The proportion of the order that came earlier will be discussed again in the court, in these circumstances simultaneous elections are the solution.
