We will not tolerate illegal attempts of annexations of Ukraine, says Joe Biden

United States President Joe Biden stated that United Nations along with the US will not tolerate any illegal attempts of annexation or stealing of a neighbour’s land by using force.

As per an Anadolu agency report, US President Joe Biden on Wednesday said in a statement that the world is “more united” and “more determined” following a UN General Assembly vote denouncing Russia for its unauthorized annexations of Ukraine.

Biden further added, “We will stand up for international law, the UN Charter, and the rights and protections it affords to Ukraine and its people – and every state and people everywhere.”

He went on to say that Ukraine is a sovereign state and has the same rights as any other state.

Biden also accused Russia of tearing global peace and stability apart by attacking the charter’s core tenets.

The President further stated that “Russia cannot erase a sovereign state from the map. Russia cannot change borders by force. Russia cannot seize another country’s territory as its own”.

Earlier, the UN General Assembly passed a motion condemning Russia’s illegal occupation of four Ukrainian regions, with 143 states voting in favour, while Russia, Venezuela, North Korea, Belarus, and Syria voted against the resolution, with 35 abstaining, including China and India.
