A new series of monsoon rains have been predicted in the country from today, under which heavy rain and hailstorm are likely to occur at a few places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh, including Islamabad, till July 17.
The Meteorological Department has predicted rains across the country, after which the PDMA has instructed the district administration to take pre-emptive measures in view of the rains and strong winds.
Heavy rains have also triggered flooding of rivers and landslides in the upper districts.
The PDMA directed the district administration to ensure availability of small heavy machinery and said that there is a possibility of urban flooding due to rains in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshehra, Mardan and other districts.
