News started circulating in Pakistan on Friday that an army officer has been appointed to the post of Chairman NADRA, while it was also claimed that the ISI chief was being changed. However, sources say that there is no truth in these two reports.
Anchor person Fareeha Idrees claimed in a tweet that Lieutenant General Shahid Imtiaz has been appointed as the new DG ISI.
In the same tweet, she also claimed that Lieutenant General Nauman Zakaria has been appointed as the chairman of the National Database Registration Authority.
However, the journalist had later denied any such statement by her saying that it was some fake account and she has also filed plea under FIA cybercrime laws.
The claim came after caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar confirmed that the rules regarding the appointment of NADRA chairman have been changed. Talking to the anchor persons, the caretaker Prime Minister said that this step has been taken in view of the security situation in the country.
NADRA Chairman Tariq Malik resigned on June 13. He was being investigated by the FIA in connection with an alleged data leak incident.
After the claim by Fareeha Idrees, the rumors became hot on social media, but sources said that there is no truth in these two reports.
