Who can file plea under Supreme Court Practice and Procedures Bill?

Who will be able to file their plea under the Supreme Court Practice and Procedures Bill?

The leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Nawaz Sharif now has the option to appeal against his conviction.

The National Assembly passed significant legislation to re-examine prior convictions. The accused have one month to file an appeal in opposition to the punishments, the legislation stated.

The ability to one-time appeal in 30 days would also be available to the former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani, Jahangir Tareen, Talal Chaudhry and others impacted by rulings in suo motu cases.

Today in the National Assembly, Mohsin Dawar amendment was added to the Supreme Court Practice and Procedures Bill.

In light of the fact that Karachi’s Nusla Tower was also demolished after receiving a suo motu notice, Mohsin Dawar argued that the victims of 184/3 (suo motu) in the past should have a 30-day window in which to file an appeal.

The Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that this law was one-time only and won’t trigger the opening of any Pandora’s boxes.

The Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that while it did occur in governments for people to have misgivings, we have decided to no longer oppose Mohsin Dawar’s amendment.

During the National Assembly session, the amendment offered by Mohsin Dawar was passed following negotiations between the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
