Why film ‘Javed Iqbal’ is renamed as ‘Kukri?’

Pakistani Film “Javed Iqbal” is resubmitted to the censor board for approval. Tracing back its history, the film was set to release in October 2021 but faced many hurdles and was delayed multiple times. Despite all the criticism from the censor board, this movie graced its world premiere at UK Film Festival.

After making a few cuts, the movie is renamed “kukri.” Film’s director, Abu Aleeha is constantly making the struggle for its release and faced many reservations, including the name of the movie from the censor board.  After making another attempt for its approval, he unveiled the story behind its new name. It is the nickname of the main character, Javed Iqbal, because of his unusual way of sitting.

The movie “Kukri” is based on the real-life story of serial killer Javed Iqbal who killed 100 children in the past. Once it will get a go-ahead from the censor board, Aleeha plans to release it between Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha.  Production of Kukri is done by Javed Ahmed Kakepoto.

We hope that the movie will reach big screens soon.
