Why govt afraid of investigation if Gill not tortured: Fawad Chaudhry

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry has questioned the lack of government investigation if party leader Shahbaz Gill was not subjected to torture.

On Sunday, during a press conference, the former information minister reiterated his demand for an independent inquiry board to look into the situation.

Fawad made it clear that threatening legal action against someone was not appropriate, and he insisted that the government was terrified of Imran Khan’s rallies.

Fawad Chaudhry added that Rana Sanaullah serving as interior minister was terrible for the nation.

The federal government has denied any sort of torture and mistreatment of Shahbaz Gill while in custody, with Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb terming it “propaganda” on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the PML-N, PPP, MQM-P, JUI-F, and other parties strongly objected to Imran’s remarks, made during a rally yesterday about a woman judge and Islamabad police officials, in a joint statement on Sunday.

The government has also asked the Supreme Court to take legal action against Imran Khan.

Moreover, on Sunday, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan denied before that Shahbaz Gill had been subjected to torture while in police custody.

While speaking at a news conference in Islamabad, he stated that the PML-N was opposed to all forms of torture.

He claimed that according to their administration, torture violated the constitution and was against a person’s inherent dignity.
