Can Imran Khan be released?
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, which ordered the Islamabad High Court to hear it today, also made a very important observation on Wednesday. Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial, who headed the bench, said there were prima facie errors in the Islamabad court’s decision against Imran Khan in the Toshakhana case.
After these remarks, PTI supporters expected that Imran Khan could be released today.
However, shortly after, a Lahore court allowed Imran Khan to be arrested from jail in the Jinnah House attack case.
This means that even if the Supreme Court or the High Court suspends Imran Khan’s sentence in the Toshakhana criminal case, there is no immediate possibility of the former prime minister coming out of jail.
