Woman stabs husband to death over domestic altercation

A woman killed her husband after a minor altercation in the Chung area of Lahore on Sunday. Police shifted the body to the city morgue for a postmortem and started legal proceedings.

According to reports, the accused stabbed her husband after the two exchanged heated words over some domestic issue. Shan was rushed to a hospital but could not survive.

Upon receiving information, Chung police arrested the accused and recovered the knife.

Talking to Minute Mirror, social activist Iram Naeem said, “[The] society is badly affected by social isolation and social media. The communication gap and a lack of understanding are ruining relationships.”

She said that couples should respect each other’s personal space. “There is a lack of tolerance and patience in the society as a whole. The government should establish such institutions where people can attend anger therapy classes.”

She added, “Another issue facing the society is that people don’t feel comfortable while visiting any psychologist because of social pressure and taboos but if someone convinces them to go to a psychiatrist they can’t afford their fee.”

She appealed to private institutions to hold awareness programs for the betterment of the society.

Separately, a factory worker was allegedly tortured by his employer in the Badami Bagh area on Sunday.

According to reports, the factory owner tortured the labourer over a “suspicion”.  However, the victim made a video clip that went viral on social media.

Taking notice of the incident, the DIG (Operations) directed police officials to take action against the accused. Subsequently, police conducted a raid and arrested the factory owner over charges of torturing the employee.
