In a tragic incident, a 27-year-old pregnant woman lost her life during an attempted home birth guided by instructional YouTube videos. Her husband and two friends had previously attempted this.

Reports indicated that the primary cause of her death was uncontrolled blood loss, resulting from her husband’s improper umbilical cord handling. This unfortunate event occurred in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.

The Medical Officer from the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Rathika filed a formal complaint with the local police concerning the unfortunate passing of Loganayaki, who hailed from Puliampatti near Pochampalli.

According to information provided by law enforcement authorities, Loganayaki’s husband initiated the home birth when she began experiencing labor pains.

Media accounts reported that the woman was transported to the Primary Health Center (PHC) while unconscious and, sadly, was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Following these events, the police took action by registering a case under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).
