Woman tortures 4-year-old son for not going to school

Child Protection Bureau rescues abused child from his home

In yet another bizarre incident of child abuse, a woman severely tortured her four-year-old son for not going to school.

Ironically, the incident – reported from a colony along Canal Road – took place on the eve of World Children’s Day.

According to reports, the Child Protection Bureau took action on the instructions of the bureau’s chairperson, Sarah Ahmed.

Ahmed told Minute Mirror that the victim was rescued from his residence.

Sharing details, she said the victim’s neighbours reported the abuse to the Child Helpline 1121. “There are clear bruises on the child’s back, legs, arms and other parts of the body.”

She said the minor would be taken to the Child Protection Court. “The child will be medically examined on the orders of the court, and an FIR will be registered. Strict legal action will be taken against the accused,” she added

Talking to Minute Mirror, children’s rights activist Rashida Qureshi said the main reason for violence against children was the weak relationship between husband and wife, due to which the mothers suffered from mental stress. “When she does not understand something, she reacts badly and tortures her children. Violence against innocent children is not only a crime but also a sin,” she said. Rashida also called for spreading awareness to prevent such incidents, and added that working on the mental health of couples was also important. “We do not discuss parenting, which is why such incidents are increasing.”
