Woman wants child recovered from Manika house

A woman on Monday approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) for the recovery of her three-month-old child from the custody of her husband, who is an employee of Khawar Manika, the ex-husband of former first lady Bushra Bibi.

Anum Rasheed filed the petition through her counsel and made Khawar Manika, her husband Sheraz Riaz and other respondents in the case. The petitioner said that she married Sheraz Riaz, who is an employee of Khawar Manika and gave birth to a son but differences developed between the husband and wife. Anum said that her husband kicked her out of the house and snatched her child from her. She said she tried to get the child but Khawar Manika was backing her husband Riaz.

The petitioner said she was facing serious mental problems and stressed custody of the child is her legal right as the child is only three months old. She asked the court to order the police to recover the child from the house of Khawar Manika. Talking to the reporters, the counsel of Anum Rasheed said, “She married Sheraz Riaz, the employee of Khawar Manika, and she gave birth to a child. But she has been beaten and ousted from the house by her family and she has also been deprived of custody of her child.”

He said that she approached Khawar Manika for redressal of her grievances but he also stood by the side of his employee, Riaz. “The police were approached but they are also not ready to hear the grievances of the victim woman,” said the lawyer, adding that she was in danger. The lawyer said that they have now approached the court for the recovery of the child.
