Won’t tolerate anything against General (retd) Bajwa: Parvez Elahi

Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi declared that if anything else is said against the former army chief, he and his party will be the first to protect General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa.

In an interaction with the media, Parvez claimed this in reference to PTI Chairman Imran Khan, who had previously criticized Gen. (retd) Bajwa in a speech to party members on Saturday.

The previous army leader was a “benefactor,” and nothing should be spoken about benefactors, Parvez remarked, adding that he felt “extremely awful” when Khan spoke against Gen (retd) Bajwa.

CM Punjab reminded the PTI leader that Gen (retd) Bajwa had done him [Khan] a lot of favours and that he shouldn’t forget them.

He claimed that although they are PTI allies rather than rivals, they cannot forget the favours of their “benefactors.”

“General (retd) Faiz Hamid mistreated us severely and attempted to imprison us. He wasn’t on our side” said Parvez.

He claimed that Imran Khan did not allow Moonis Elahi to sit with him but that Imran Khan was supported by the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).

When Imran Khan requested to dissolve the Punjab Assembly, “we agreed right away,” he said.

In a speech to PTI workers on Saturday, Khan criticized Bajwa stating that he “foresaw the departure of his administration” and was aware that some forces planned to impose Shehbaz Sharif as prime minister.

Parvez and Mahmood Khan stood on each side of the former premier.
