World cannot afford an instable Afghanistan: COAS

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Monday said that the world and the region cannot afford an instable Afghanistan, so there was an urgent need for global convergence to avert a looming humanitarian catastrophe in the war-torn country.

Gen Bajwa was talking to United States (US) Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West, who had called on him at the General Headquarters.

The two leaders discussed matters of mutual interest, current security situation in Afghanistan and bilateral cooperation opportunities in the context.

The COAS thanked the dignitary for participating in the 17th Extraordinary Session of Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)
