China reaffirms ‘all-weather’ friendship with Pakistan on Pakistan Day

Xi Jinping on Monday sent a congratulatory message to Asif Ali Zardari on the occasion of Pakistan Day, expressing readiness to work together to build an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era.

President Xi highlighted the commencement of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan this year, along with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan.

He expressed hope that both countries would continue their longstanding friendship, strengthen strategic communication, align development strategies, and progress together on their respective paths toward modernisation.

Xi also praised the Pakistani government for steadfastly safeguarding national sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and dignity, while overcoming various risks and challenges. He acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in advancing national development and contributing to regional peace, stability, and prosperity.

“As a close friend, China is sincerely pleased with Pakistan’s development achievements,” Xi added.

Deepening Pak-China All-Weather Strategic Partnership

Meanwhile, Wang Yi also extended his congratulations on Pakistan Day in a message to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Wang noted that in recent years, the Pakistani government and its people have overcome multiple challenges, achieved economic and social progress, and played an increasingly significant role in regional and global affairs.

He reaffirmed China’s willingness to work closely with Pakistan to implement the key understandings reached by the leadership of both countries and further deepen the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”

In addition, Li Qiang also sent a congratulatory message to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the occasion.

The messages from Chinese leadership underscore the enduring strength of ties between China and Pakistan, often described as a time-tested and all-weather friendship.
