In Stockholm, Salwan Momika, an Iraqi refugee living in Sweden, along with Salwan Najem, targeted the Quran by stepping on it and burning a copy in front of the parliament building.
They were confronted by Swedish activists who opposed their actions, but the police intervened and supported the actions of Momika and further arrested one of the activists.
This isn’t the first time Momika engaged in such behavior; he previously burned a Quran under police protection near the Stockholm Mosque on June 28, which coincided with Eid al-Adha.
This incident is part of a pattern of Quran burning and desecration in northern European and Nordic countries, often perpetrated by Islamophobic individuals or groups.
