700 candidates file nomination papers for Punjab polls

A total of more than 700 candidates have submitted their nomination papers for the general elections of the Punjab Assembly for 21 constituencies of Faisalabad, with which the first phase of the general elections of the Punjab Assembly has been completed.
All the constituencies are expected to have tough contests as a large number of former MPAs will be contesting from each constituency. According to the details, a total of 21 candidates submitted nomination papers in PP 97, including former provincial minister Ali Afzal Sahi, former provincial minister Chaudhry Ajmal Cheema, Former Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Afzal Sahi, former Member Provincial Assembly Azad Ali Tabasim and others are included.

Similarly 32 candidates have submitted nomination papers from PP 98, including former Speaker Punjab Assembly Muhammad Afzal Sahi, his son Junaid Afzal Sahi, former Member of Punjab Assembly Muhammad Shoaib Idris, former provincial minister Muhammad Shafiq Chaudhry, Fawad Cheema and others are included. Former Member of Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Ali Akhtar and his political opponent Chaudhry Sanaullah Bajwa will contest from PP 99.

From PP 100, nomination papers have been submitted by Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan, while along with this, nomination papers of Talal Chaudhry’s brother Bilal Badar Chaudhry and Ashraf Chaudhry have also been submitted. 24 candidates from PP 101 have submitted nomination papers including former members of Punjab Assembly Jafar Ali Hocha, Shamsher Haider, Shaheer Dawood Khan and others. 29 candidates in PP 102 while 45 candidates from PP 103 and PP 104 constituencies submitted their nomination papers. Among them are heavyweight politician’s former federal minister Rana Farooq Saeed Khan, former member of the Punjab Assembly Arif Mehmood Gilll, Iftikhar Rasool Ghaman and Chaudhry Farooq Arshad among others.

In PP 105 also, both political opponents Rao Kashif Rahim Khan and Chaudhry Adil Parvez Gujjar submitted their nomination papers who have won the elections of the former members of the Punjab Assembly. Malik Umar Farooq, Chaudhry Saifullah Gul and Umair Mukhtar from pp 106, Tough competition is also expected in PP 107 as former provincial minister Rana Aftab Ahmad Khan, two-time member of Punjab Assembly Mian Ajmal Asif, Yasin Kisana and others will be competing. 18 candidates will contest in PP 108. From PP 109, Hasan Masood, Maher Shoaib Arshad, Younis Sulaiman, Maher Hamid Rasheed and former president of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Syed Zia Alamdar will be present in the field. In PP 110 also, 21 candidates submitted their nomination papers.

A tough competition is also expected in PP-111 as all the candidates have their rich political background and all parties will be eyeing this provincial constituency of the city. Among the candidates are Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz City General Secretary Mian Ziaur Rahman, former Deputy Mayor Municipal Corporation Amin Butt, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Rana Ehsan Afzal, former member of the Punjab Assembly Shakeel Shahid, former member of the Punjab Assembly Rana Ali Abbas, and former member of the National Assembly Umar. Daraz’s son Asad Mahmood Khan, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special assistant Dr Shahbaz Gill and Asrar Munnay Khan will be the contestants.

A total of 44 candidates have submitted their nomination papers from PP 112, including former member Punjab Assembly Rana Ali Abbas, former district bar president Bilal Ashraf Basra, Abdullah Damar, Dr. Shahbaz Gill, Nadeem Sadiq Dogar, Atiq-ur-Razaq Lucky Shah, Former Member of Punjab Assembly Dr. Asad Moazzam and Chengais Khan Kakarr Advocate and others are included. Similarly, 22 candidates submitted their nomination papers in PP 113, while 45 candidates will contest in PP 114, 25 candidates in PP 115 while 44 candidates from PP 116 have submitted their nomination papers, including former member of Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Nawaz, Adnan Anwar Rahmani and others.
