The government has decided to extend the Prime Minister’s Relief Package at utility stores beyond the Ramadan package.
Officials have confirmed that subsidies on five essential commodities – sugar, flour, ghee, pulses, and rice – will continue for Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) beneficiaries under the Prime Minister’s Relief Package. A monthly subsidy of approximately three billion rupees will be granted.
For BISP customers buying from utility stores, the price of sugar will be Rs109 per kg, while a 10 kg bag of flour will cost Rs648. Additionally, ghee will be sold at Rs393 per kg for BISP customers.
As part of the package, BISP users will receive a Rs25 subsidy per kilo of pulses and rice. The utility stores intend to maintain the Prime Minister’s package until June 2024, with a decision on its extension into the next financial year to be made by the federal government.
