The Safe Cities Authority in Lahore has developed innovative software capable of tracing motorcycle riders without helmets. Punjab has taken a bold step by employing artificial intelligence to identify and penalize individuals violating helmet laws.

Dr. Usman Anwar, the Inspector General of Punjab stated that the Safe Cities Authority will utilize CCTV cameras equipped with the newly developed software to identify helmet-less motorcycle riders. Punjab Police with the aid of artificial intelligence-based technology is determined to ensure the strict implementation of traffic laws.

A spokesperson for the Safe Cities Authority emphasized that the software will enable authorities to apprehend helmet-less riders and impose penalties. The artificial intelligence-based software led by SD Safe Cities and supervised by AD Safe Cities Asim Bukhari promises to significantly enhance the enforcement of urban traffic regulations.

The spokesperson further explained that individuals caught riding motorcycles without helmets will face fines with penalties amounting to 2,000 Pakistani Rupees. This initiative aligns with the directives of the Lahore High Court reinforcing the importance of wearing helmets to ensure safety during city commuting, reduce accidents and deter heavy fines.

It is essential for motorcycle riders to comply with the helmet regulations not only to avoid penalties but also to contribute to the overall safety of urban transportation. The integration of artificial intelligence in traffic law enforcement marks a significant stride towards creating a safer and more responsible road environment in Punjab.
