All the imams ever lived for was truth and peace: Anoushey Ashraf

VJ and actress Anoushey Ashraf took to Instagram on April 13 to share a photo from her trip to Egypt, showing her standing in the verandah of the popular Al-Hussain Mosque, also known as Jame Sayyidna Husayn mosque or The Imam Hussein Mosque.

The photo also carried a lengthy caption along, the initial lines of which went like this:

“The death of Hussein in Karbala, Iraq, cemented the rift between the Sunni and Shiite branches of Islam unfortunately while all the Imams ever lived for was truth and peace. It has to be said that the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus also claims Imam Husseyn’s head, a Shiite relic, even though both mosques were established by Sunnis. (This fact is important to bring people closer to one another)”

The public admired Anoushey Ashraf’s post, specifically appreciating her act of imparting important information along with her attempt at bridging the gap between the Sunnis and Shias by arguing how the two sects can negotiate on a lot of common grounds; only if they wish to probe into facts they can equally and respectfully relate to, instead of remaining bent upon finding differences.
