Army requisitioned in Punjab, KP to maintain law and order

The Army has been requisitioned to be deployed in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

Punjab’s provincial home department had requested the Interior Ministry to appoint the army in the province under Article 245.

KP government has also requisitioned the deployment of army in the province to avoid unrest in the province.

Home Department Punjab sent a request to the federal government for the deployment of army. Additionally, it said that the consent was given in order to uphold law and order.

Similarly, Deputy Secretary (Security) Home of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a notification of army deployment in the province.

The army’s deployment in Punjab has been approved by the federal interior ministry.

According to sources in the Interior Department, the army has been called in pursuant to Article 245 of the Constitution to help restore law and order.

The Army has been requested to assist the provincial governments and has been called upon to deploy 10 companies across several districts in Punjab.

The army would be stationed in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Peshawar and other regions to maintain law and order situation.
