AT condemns corporate farming

    Speakers at a Seminar Organised by Awami Taherikh a progressive party founded by the late Rasool Bux Palijo on Sunday, called corporate farming and agricultural farming a deep-seated conspiracy against Sindh.

    Writers, poets, lawyers, philosophers, journalists and people belonging to different walks of life lashed out at the Government for handing over 52,000 acres of land in Sindh to MS green corporate company in the garb of development projects and agricultural revolution.

    They called it an onslaught on Sindh. Addressing the seminar central president of AT Lal Hussain Jarwar said that PPP had auctioned Sindh,s resources to regain power adding that they would nor let PPP, PDM and other forces succeed in their evil intentions.

    ” The people of Sindh have rejected ant-people moves of the current caretaker government, the step of handing over tourist resorts of Sindh to private companies was a move to usurp Sindh,s resources”; he claimed. He also drew the attention of participants towards illegal occupation of land located in coastal areas. “The land meant for cultivation of mangroves in coastal areas has been mutated to influential land grabbers”; he said.

    Ghul Hassan Katiyar proposed the land of Sindh be granted to poor masses for cultivation instead of giving it to influential companies who would bring nothing but disaster to Sindh. He said that during the past two decades Sindh awaited for development but nothing arrived except hopelessness and an indelible crisis.

    Seasoned leader of AT Ms Hurunisa Palijo compared Green Corporate Company with the east India company and said that the mandate of both the companies was similar. She further said that the government did not have the right, under any law, to occupy the land of masses, adding that it was a flagrant violation of fundamental rights of the people of Sindh guaranteed by the constitution of Pakistan.

    She mentioned that the responsibility of the caretaker government was to hold elections only but they were chalking out strategies to deprive Sindh of its resources. Noted motivational speaker and writer Jami Chandio urged youth to turn up and work for the betterment of SIndh. ” IIn current context the role of youth is going to be crucial’.’ he said.

    The participants that included leaders of different nationalists parties and groups unanimously rejected occupation of SIndhh,s resources. The event was participated by Iqbal Jakhro,Sajjad Parhiyar, Zahid Lashari, Ghanwar Khan Zahur, Kashif Malah, Shafi Merger and others.
