Audio-leaks Judicial Commission’s proceedings will be public

Justice Qazi Faez Isa led judicial commission on Monday decided to make proceedings of a commission made to investigate ‘audio leaks’ public.

The head of judicial commission Justice Qazi Faez Isa chaired the first meeting to investigate the audio leaks in the Supreme Court.

Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Amir Farooq and Chief Justice Balochistan High Court Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan attended the meeting.

Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan appeared in the first meeting of the commission.

Justice Qazi inquired from the attorney general that under which law the government formed the commission.

The Attorney General said that this commission was formed under the Commission of Inquiry Act 2016.

The Audio Leaks Judicial Commission has announced plans to make the proceedings public, and said that if any sensitive matter comes up, it will review the request for in-camera proceedings.

The federal government established a three-member judicial commission under the direction of Senior Puisne Judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court to investigate the validity of audio leaks and their effects on the independence of the court.

The decision was finalized on Friday during a meeting of the federal cabinet. Chief Justices Naeem Akhtar Afghan of the Balochistan High Court and Aamer Farooq of the Islamabad High Court are both members of the commission.
