Balochistan CM’s victory in election challenged in tribunal

Gohram Bugti of the Jamhoori Watan Party has lodged a challenge against the election victory of Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti in the tribunal.

In his petition, Gohram Bugti raises concerns about Sarfaraz Bugti’s eligibility to contest from Balochistan Assembly’s constituency PB-10 (Dera Bugti), given his prior role as a minister in the caretaker cabinet.

The petitioner argues that as a member of the caretaker cabinet, Sarfaraz Bugti should not have been permitted to run in the election. Furthermore, he alleges that Sarfaraz Bugti arranged for his preferred polling staff, resigned from the cabinet, and then proceeded to compete in the election.

The petition points out discrepancies in the voting ratios claimed by Sarfaraz Bugti, citing percentages as high as 80 to 99 percent, which the petitioner deems improbable in any election.

Gohram Bugti appeals to the tribunal for thumb verification of voters to ensure the integrity of the election process.

He questions how Sarfaraz Bugti can retain his assembly membership when he was supposedly ineligible to contest the election in the first place.

Gohram Bugti requests the tribunal to declare the PB-10 seat vacant and to organize a by-election in the constituency.
