Bilawal Bhutto claims Nawaz Sharif is relying on “other” forces to become Prime Minister

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), in a recent interview with Reuters, expressed concern about Nawaz Sharif’s ambitions to become Pakistan’s Prime Minister for the fourth time, implying a possible reliance on forces other than public support.

“He’s certainly giving the impression that he is relying on something other than the people of Pakistan to become prime minister for the fourth time,” he stated.

Bilawal, whose party PPP had previously joined forces with PML-N to form PDM, rejected forming coalitions with other candidates, preferring to work with independent candidates.

With almost two-thirds of Pakistan’s population under 30, Bilawal hopes to offer a new vision and leadership style, aiming to garner support from Pakistan’s youth.

He emphasized that the younger generation’s decisions will directly impact their future, therefore, “it would be better if they were allowed to make those decisions.”

At 35, he is portraying himself as a leader with fresh ideas for addressing the country’s political and economic issues.

It is noteworthy that the winner of the next elections would be tasked with rebuilding Pakistan’s faltering economy. However, Bilawal outlined plans to address social issues and supply free electricity despite budget limits.

“What we propose is to completely restructure Pakistan’s development model, putting the threat of climate change front and centre,” stated Bilawal, who has also served as Pakistan’s 37th Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The transparency of the 2024 elections is considered to be a source of concern, but Bilawal and the PPP are set to defy expectations and win.
