Bilawal’s political game’s and Sindh’s struggles

PS:Dawn

During his speech in Sahiwal, the PPP leader persuaded the public in these words that the people should get rid of the politics of hatred and vindication as this is the only path towards development and prosperity of the nation. Bilawal praised his party for being the only party with a progressive manifesto and blamed the PMLN for its vendetta politics. The important point was about the development of Pakistan in which Bilawal told his supporters that Pakistan is facing multifaceted challenges and the PPP has the potential to deal with the challenges and put Pakistan on the path of development. If you are thinking about these promises, and you are living in the illusion that this commitment or pledge will be fulfilled, then believe me, these are just promises and PPP. Since 2008 they have only given deceit and lies to the people of the Sindh.

Let’s discuss the performance of the PPP government in Sindh. The biggest metropolitan city is still the hub of murderers, looters and Mafias. It remained a battleground of the Maximalist elements for the terrorist and mafia weekends, not due to the efficient or effective governance of the PPP government, but due to the military operations and sacrifices of our soldiers.   Law and order is deteriorating in the city and the city has never been stable since the PPP took over charge. The truth is, the PPP has never lived up to the expectations of the people. They failed to address the miseries of the people due to incompetent leadership. The only trump card they have is BISP. However, BISP has also failed to improve the standards of the people.

If we talk about the poverty ratio in Sindh, then just in rural areas almost 75℅ people are facing abject poverty in the province while 50% of, the population in rural areas live below the poverty line. The slogan of Roti, kapra makan has never materialized into something productive. It just remains a populist narrative that the sympathies, votes and support which are gained by the party are only because of their previous leadership.  If we talked about the Human Development Index report 2017 the worst performing districts in Pakistan are in Sindh.

Education remains a pressing challenge for the Sindh government. Six million children are out of school, the copy culture is rampant, the syllabus is obsolete and most of the schools are Ghost schools, which only exist on the page. Furthermore, enrollment in schools is also low as the region is poverty-stricken.

The child marriage act which was passed in 2013 mainly to control the nefarious practice of forced marriage and marriage before the age of 18 but besides this act, child marriages are still frequent. Almost 22 % of girls married before they reach their 18th birthday and in the last few years the ratio of child marriage increased in 14 out of 29 districts of Sindh.

In short, the PPP has destroyed the economy and instigated disorder in the institutions of Sindh. Their leadership failed to resolve the woes of the people, they failed to manage the economy, they failed to manage the institutions and government departments. If you want to secure a good job in the Sindh government agency, then there are two prerequisites for it. First, the political influence. Second, money. Without these two, you would not be able to secure a seat or appointment in a government department. As institutions are enriched by the corruption.
