São Paulo- Brazilian Meta Computer Services Company has won a case against the use of the name Facebook Meta.

According to foreign media reports, In a local court in Brazil, the Brazilian Meta Computer Services Company filed an appeal against the use of the name Facebook Meta in which the company argued that Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg cannot use the name Meta for his social media site in their country.

The Brazilian Meta company argued in its defence that they already own the rights to the name and as a result Facebook’s founder Mark Zuckerberg has wrongly referenced American branding.

The company further argued in its defence that US-based Meta formerly known as Facebook changed its name in 2021 to a new brand whereas our company’s name Brazilian Meta was registered earlier and all the rights to this name are also with us.

The company also emphasized that decisions regarding business dealings of groups operating in our country should be made in accordance with Brazilian law.

After hearing the arguments, the court ordered Mark Zuckerberg’s tech company to refrain from using its name in Brazil within 30 days by the end of February.

It is clear that Mark Zuckerberg’s tech company still retains the legal right to appeal against the decision.
