Breakfast can be shield against heart attacks

Breakfast is often hailed as the most important meal of the day and for good reason, it can significantly reduce the risk of heart attacks. This claim stems from a medical study published in the journal BMC Public Health.

The study which included over 36,000 participants found that consuming breakfast and including calcium-rich foods in both breakfast and dinner can greatly reduce the risk of diseases related to the heart including heart attacks.

According to the research, a 5% decrease in calcium intake during dinner and a 5% increase during breakfast can reduce the risk of heart attacks and other heart-related diseases by up to 6%.

Calcium-rich foods such as milk, yogurt, fish and leafy greens like spinach are abundant in breakfast. Calcium is a crucial dietary element for regulating internal clock hormones which play a significant role in the body’s overall health.

When calcium levels are low, the risk of bone weakness and other diseases increases. Medical experts recommend a daily calcium intake of 1,500 milligrams for individuals aged 19 to 50 and 2,000 milligrams for those over 50.

Individuals who consume a balanced diet consisting of milk, yogurt, fruits, vegetables and cereals generally do not face a deficiency in calcium.

This study adds to existing research highlighting the importance of breakfast in maintaining heart health. By incorporating calcium-rich foods into our morning meals, we not only fuel our bodies for the day but also fortify our defences against heart-related ailments.

Moreover, skipping breakfast can lead to increased feelings of hunger throughout the day often resulting in a preference for fast or junk food which can contribute to weight gain and increase the risk of heart diseases.
