Caretaker federal minister Solangi assures nation of no change in election date

Caretaker Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs, Murtaza Solangi, delivered an unwavering message to the nation, emphatically stating that general elections are unequivocally slated for February 8. This proclamation, made during his visit to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) office, echoes the steadfast commitment to upholding the democratic process.

Solangi, in his media interaction, drew parallels with historical elections conducted under adverse conditions, emphasizing that the present situation in the country far surpasses the challenges faced in 2008 and 2013.

Underlining the meticulous engagement between the caretaker government and the ECP, Solangi assured the public that routine communication channels are actively facilitating seamless coordination.

Expressing optimism, he anticipated a notable improvement in the country’s security situation in the days to come. The minister further disclosed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the ECP would furnish details regarding the arrival of foreign media teams gearing up for comprehensive coverage of the upcoming elections.

Addressing queries about the pace of election activities, Solangi anticipated a surge in momentum following the announcement of political candidates. Highlighting the initiation of election campaigns by various parties, he pinpointed January 15 as a significant date, citing the Muslim League (N) announcing a rally.

Responding to concerns about recent Internet outages, Solangi clarified that technical glitches, not political motives, were the root cause. He directed those seeking detailed information about the Internet shutdown to consult the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority.

Emphasizing the caretaker government’s adherence to established protocols, Solangi clarified that in the absence of a designated minister for a portfolio, the prime minister assumes responsibility according to the Rules of Business. The minister’s articulate assurances paint a picture of unwavering dedication to democratic principles, assuring the nation of a resilient and unswerving commitment to the upcoming electoral process.
