London: Self-made singer Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, famous for his viral songs on social media, has made a significant offer to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after being excluded from the ICC T20 World Cup.
Chahat Fateh Ali Khan is currently in London promoting his debut film ‘Sabaq,’ where he expressed his views on the national team’s poor performance in the World Cup during an interview with a private Pakistani TV channel.
The singer stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board needs an experienced cricketer as chairman. “I want to be made chairman of the board. If appointed, I will spend four days a week on the ground, assessing players’ performance and coaching.”
He added, “I will select only one coach for the national team and personally observe how my chosen coach handles coaching duties.”
Upon hearing Chahat Fateh Ali Khan’s statement, a journalist asked if he wanted Mohsen Naqvi to step down as chairman so that he could take the position.
In response to the journalist’s question, Chahat Fateh Ali Khan said, “No, that’s not what I’m suggesting. I just want Mohsen Naqvi Sahib to consider my proposal calmly.”
The singer noted that Mohsen Naqvi holds the responsibilities of being the Chairman of the PCB and the Federal Minister of Interior, stating, “The position of Federal Minister is very important and carries a lot of responsibilities. Therefore, I want him to delegate the responsibilities of PCB Chairman to me.”
He clarified, “I am not criticizing Mohsen Naqvi but expressing my desire to be appointed as Chairman of the Board. I have played first-class cricket, have cricket experience, and cricket is my first love.”
Chahat Fateh Ali Khan, whose real name is Kashif Rana, played for Lahore in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy seasons of 1983 and 1984 in the past. He played two first-class matches, scoring only 16 runs in three innings. Later, he moved to the UK, where he played club cricket for 12 years.
