Chairman of PTI asserts absence of deputy Prime Minister position in constitution

Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, articulated during a press interaction at the session court in Islamabad that the constitutional framework of Pakistan does not include a provision for the role of Deputy Prime Minister.

He acknowledged that the creation of such a post was an initiative undertaken by Asif Ali Zardari and lacks legal grounding within the country’s statutes.

Stating the issue further, Chairman PTI, Barrister Gohar Khan, expressed concerns regarding the apparent nepotism within the political landscape, stating, “We have consistently highlighted the practice of appointing relatives to key positions.”

Additionally, Barrister Gohar advocated for institutional reforms aimed at upholding the fundamental rights enshrined within the judicial system. He stated the importance of holding perpetrators accountable through due process.

Continuing his address, Barrister Gohar lamented the retaliatory actions faced by those who speak out against injustices, noting, “We are often faced with legal repercussions for merely advocating for our rights.” He expressed confidence in the judicial system’s ability to rectify such injustices.

In his closing remarks, the PTI leader reiterated the party’s commitment to championing the rights of the people within the legislative assembly, affirming their stance against engaging in negotiations with those perceived to be in opposition to these principles.
