BBC nature presenter Chris Packham has criticized singer-songwriter Taylor Swift for her “absurd” use of private jets, following her legal threat against a social media blogger who shared details of her overseas travel.

According to the blogger, Taylor Swift traveled 178,000 miles on two private planes in 2023. In response, Swift’s legal team sent a “cease and desist” letter, accusing the blogger of “stalking and harassing behavior,” prompting Packham’s ire.

Speaking to The Mirror, Packham remarked, “Private jets are the single greatest contributor to jet aviation fuel emissions, and the least efficient, as they often carry only one person.

Taylor should have acknowledged the issue and pledged to change her practice by selling her private jets.

It would have been a powerful statement, especially considering her influence, particularly among young audiences.”

Packham emphasized that while Swift isn’t solely responsible for climate breakdown, as an icon, she should be leading by example.
