Recently, the nation mourned the loss of its fallen heroes from North Waziristan, a solemn occasion graced by the presence of top civilian and military leadership. President Asif Zardari and Army Chief Asim Munir, among others, solemnly carried the coffins of the shaheed soldiers, a gesture that resonated deeply with the nation, instilling courage in the face of loss.
Even as we grieve, our brave forces continue to display unwavering resolve on the battlefield. News of the successful neutralization of the enemy in Afghanistan, received on this Monday as I pen these words, stands as a testament to their valour and determination.
In another display of solidarity and commitment to our armed forces, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently visited GHQ Rawalpindi, accompanied by cabinet members, where he was honoured with a guard of honour. Welcomed by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir, the Prime Minister, in a poignant moment, laid flowers at the memorial of the martyrs. Discussions between the Prime Minister and the Army Chief encompassed critical issues of national security, regional stability, and military readiness. The Prime Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security situation and the proactive measures in place to address emerging threats.
During this solemn occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to providing all necessary resources for the operational readiness of our armed forces. He echoed a sentiment shared by many: that the rise of Pakistan is not just a possibility but a destiny that the nation is destined to achieve. The prime minister, alongside members of his cabinet, commended the Pakistan Army for their exemplary professionalism and paid tribute to their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.

During a recent meeting between US Ambassador Donald Bloom and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the ambassador extended warm congratulations to the prime minister on his re-election for a second term. Expressing the United States’ commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan, the Ambassador conveyed the importance of collaboration between the two nations to foster robust bilateral relations.
Indeed, the challenges facing Pakistan today demand concrete measures to address both domestic and national security imperatives. From combating terrorism to achieving political and economic stability, and confronting the impacts of climate change, the road ahead is fraught with complexities.
Our security has long been under threat, with historical tensions with India posing persistent challenges. Despite the government’s earnest pursuit of independence and sovereignty, India’s reluctance to acknowledge these principles has fueled ongoing hostilities. From instigating conflicts to perpetrating acts of water terrorism and supporting terrorist activities within Pakistan, India’s actions have posed a continuous threat to Pakistan’s security and stability.
