CM Maryam directs precautionary measures following rainfall forecast

On Saturday, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz instructed all relevant departments to take precautionary measures in anticipation of thunderous rainfall and a surge in cold weather expected in Punjab from the 11th to the 14th of this month.

She directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and Rescue 1122 to provide regular updates on the steps being taken. Maryam Nawaz emphasized the importance of informing the public in advance through electronic and social media, as well as mobile alerts. Additionally, she urged for effective measures to safeguard livestock in rural areas.

Prior to this directive, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a weather alert, warning of unexpected weather patterns in the coming days, including rain and snowfall in various regions.

Meanwhile, regions such as Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and the Pothohar are expected to experience rain, thunderstorms, and possible snowfall in hilly areas.

From March 8 to 10, cloudy conditions are anticipated across most regions, with isolated rain expected in Central and Southern Punjab. Moreover, significant snowfall is forecasted in northern areas, potentially leading to brief road closures.

Between March 10 and 12, rain and thunderstorms are predicted in southern and northern Balochistan, including Katch, Gwadar, and Quetta. Similar weather patterns are expected in western and higher regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Kashmir, while other parts of the country may experience dry weather.
