CM Murad Ali Shah urges PM Shahbaz Sharif to expedite K-IV project funding

Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Sha announced his intention to write a letter to the newly elected Prime Minister, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, seeking the release of allocated funds. Murad Ali Shah expressed concern over the federal government’s release of only Rs4 billion out of the designated Rs16 billion, causing potential delays to the crucial water supply initiative for Karachi.

The CM highlighted the significance of the K-IV project in meeting the city’s water demands and emphasized its necessity for the well-being of its residents.

Speaking to the media after submitting nomination papers for PPP Senate candidates, including Jam Saifullah Dharejo and Aslam Abro, CM Murad Ali Shah addressed various issues. He assured the easy election of PPP candidates, stating they had sufficient votes in the assembly.

The CM also acknowledged Barrister Mayor Murtaza Wahab Siddiqui’s dedicated efforts to advance Karachi’s development, emphasizing the elected mayor’s substantial powers.

Responding to potential reforms in local bodies law, CM Murad Ali Shah asserted that the Sindh Assembly would handle any required changes. He expressed regret over the PML-N’s lack of authority to amend local bodies law, as demanded by the MQM. The CM revealed ongoing discussions with the MQM on matters of mutual interest, including the election of Speakers and Deputy Speakers for the Sindh Assembly.

Addressing law and order, CM Murad Ali Shah conveyed his commitment to eradicating street crime and ensuring safety in the Riverine area. He outlined plans to implement PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s 10-point election manifesto and stressed the importance of collective decision-making to resolve provincial issues.

In his future correspondence with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, CM Murad Ali Shah intends to advocate for the timely completion of the K-IV project, emphasizing its critical role in Karachi’s water supply infrastructure. He also voiced concerns about rising prices, urging the new federal government to address the issue by reconsidering subsidies for the elite.

The CM expressed his dedication to fulfilling the PPP’s promises to the people and building houses for those affected by floods as outlined in Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s 10-point agenda.
